Every year, Australia hosts 543.7-mile (875-kilometer) endurance racing from Sydney to Melbourne. It is considered among the world’s most grueling ultra-marathons. The race takes five days to complete and is normally only attempted by world-class athletes who train specially for the event.

Cliff Young, a 61 yr old farmer, showed up at the race in farm boots, ran continuously, won the race and gave away the prize money to other competitors, saying he did not run for money.

He did this in a competition in which most of the participants were below the age of 30 and trained by corporates.
